Custom Orders & Why I Don't

One of the questions I receive most often is, "Will you make me something?" The answer is always, "No." As a young artist, I used to accept custom orders for paintings. I had one custom order and saw the dismay on the customer's face when I brought the piece to them and could feel the disappointment as they handed me the cash. "The Espuela series is inspired by the shortlived, Espuela County, now known as Spur, Texas in Dickens County. All that remains of Espuela is the cemetery in which a few of my ancestors now rest. The glazes (color) on all the Espuela pieces are Gun Metal Green and Coffee Bean. Together they mimic the heights and ravines of the caprocks that lay throughout this part of the country."
